It works!

Standard

Because I was on maternity leave for 5 months, my students didn’t get as much comprehensible input as I would like. However, now that I’m back…. it’s on!

After just 2 weeks of CI, I wanted to see what my students could do! I had them do a story re-write. They had to change all the details of the story but use the same structures we had been working on. Here are two student samples! There’s obviously some errors, however…after only 2 weeks…WOW!!!! This just reinforces how effective CI teaching is!

I’m back! And loving it! (Who knew teaching would feel like a vacation compared to being a SAHM! Shout out to all you mama’s who stay at home. More power to you!)

I’ve been busy trying to revamp some partially done movie talks, classroom posters, flash cards etc.

Currently in my Spanish 2’s we’re working through a movie talk which correlates with ‘Jack Jack Ataca‘. I created an entire unit where students get repetition of various structures and reinforce vocabulary. I wrote this in the past tense. It is also a great way for students to practice identifying when/how to use both the imperfect and the preterite.

How are you reinforcing the past tense through CI???

This week in my Spanish 1’s we did a movie talk with the movie alma.

I LOooooOVE using movie talk in my classroom! The kids are engaged and being immersed in Spanish! Together we “circled” and wrote the narrative to the ALMA movie. We continued using the structures found in the narrative throughout the week. I also created several worksheets for the students to practice and reinforce the learned structures.

Do you use movie talks? What are some follow up activities you like to do?
